Playing around with pencil sketches: the frog is in pencil and ebony
These oil paintings are actually of the same thing -
the right one was done with a pallet knife
This collage of torn and cut paper was chosen during the Wright State University's annual ArtGala in 2012 which awarded me a scholastic scholorship for the following year, leaving it on display in the main Liberal Arts office during that time. This work was inspired by one of the several beautiful wall frescos discovered in the ruins of the Roman city of Pomeii.
A large woodcut print of an image taken during a class on the knitting machine.
This is one of a series of 6, and the main block for a second 3-color series of 4.
Stained glass - "Pele" in progress. Check back for updates.
The beginning of my painting not under direction as a student, these are the first of hopefully many. At left, a freeform oil painting of a photograph taken by my mother during the summer. At right, an acrylic piece done in less than 6 minutes as a color exercise inspired by a particularly beautiful setting sun.
Depiction of "The Great Wave of Kanagawa" by Fugaku Sanjuokkei. This massive wall mural measures 7 feet tall and nearly 12 feet long. It can be noted that the ships in the original have been omitted by request. The combination of gloss and matte-finish acrylic paints created a very interesting and dynamic play of light through the bands of blue on the wave. This work was the largest commissioned piece to date.
